Privacy Policy

This notice describes how BirdMember GmbH processes personal data when you use the BirdMate website. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection is the primary framework. The EU GDPR does not apply merely because a person opens the website from the EU. It may apply to a specific processing activity where its conditions are met.

Controller

BirdMember GmbH, Dorfstrasse 78, 3646 Einigen, Switzerland, is responsible for the processing of personal data on this website. BirdMember GmbH operates the BirdMate website at https://birdmate.ch.

Privacy requests can be sent to info@birdmate.ch.

Processing in general

Personal data is processed to operate the website, answer project inquiries, communicate with prospective clients and protect the website from misuse. Where advertising is allowed, the effect of advertising may also be measured.

Visiting the website

A visit may involve technical information: IP address, browser and device details, date and time, pages requested, and the previous address if the browser sends it. This information may be processed in server logs where it is needed to operate and protect the website.

Hosting

The website is hosted with Metanet. Metanet processes the technical information needed to deliver the website, send email and keep the service available.

Contact and project inquiries

Forms are available on the homepage, on the contact page and in the project inquiry window. They collect a name, an email address, a company name if one is given, the selected services and a project description if one is given. If the inquiry is opened for a particular service, the name of that service may be sent as well.

The information is used to answer the inquiry, assess the requirements, prepare a possible collaboration and communicate with the person who wrote.

The inquiry is sent over an encrypted connection and delivered as an email to info@birdmate.ch. A copy may also be stored on the hosting server so the inquiry is not lost if mail delivery fails.

If the address you open contains campaign or advertising parameters, they are stored for the browser session and added to the email. To limit repeated submissions, the IP address is processed in hashed form for a 15-minute window. The IP address itself is not included in the inquiry email.

Cookies and local storage

Your choices for measurement and advertising are stored locally in the browser so that they remain in place on the next visit. The website does not set its own cookie for this.

The notice has three categories. Necessary is always on and covers storing that choice. Measurement and advertising are optional. Measurement concerns whether measurement data may be stored in connection with advertising. Advertising concerns advertising cookies and advertising identifiers. Both stay off until you allow them.

You can reject the optional categories, allow all of them, or choose them separately. Cookie Settings in the footer lets you change the choice later. Not every processing activity is based on consent. Operating the website and answering inquiries do not depend on it.

If the address you open contains campaign parameters, they are stored for the browser session. This can happen before you make a choice about advertising. The session data ends when the browser session ends.

Google Ads

We use Google Ads to understand the effect of advertising and, where conversion measurement is enabled, to attribute an inquiry to an advertisement.

Until you allow advertising, storage of advertising and measurement data, and the use of advertising identifiers for personalised advertising, are not enabled. Google may still receive limited technical data in that state, for example because the advertising script is loaded or click information is passed through the page address. That is not anonymisation of all data, and it does not stop every connection to Google.

If you allow advertising, Google may set cookies and use advertising identifiers to attribute visits and, where enabled, conversions. Google may process this data in the United States and in other countries where Google operates. You can change your choice in Cookie Settings.

Other external services

Fonts are delivered with the website and are not loaded from an external font service when you visit. There is no embedded media from other providers.

Recipients of personal data

Recipients are Metanet as the host, Google in connection with Google Ads, and the mailbox info@birdmate.ch for project inquiries.

Disclosure abroad

Where Google Ads is used, Google may process personal data in the United States and in other countries where Google operates. This can include technical visit data and, after you allow advertising, advertising identifiers and cookies.

Retention and deletion

Personal data is kept for as long as the relevant purpose and legal duties require. Correspondence about an inquiry stays in the mailbox for as long as it is needed to reply, assess a project and meet legal duties.

The local choice for measurement and advertising remains until you change it or clear the browser storage. Campaign parameters end with the browser session. Information used to limit repeated inquiries is used during a 15-minute window.

Data security

The website is delivered over HTTPS. Entries are checked, and repeated submissions are limited. Absolute security cannot be promised.

Rights of data subjects

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection you may request information about the personal data processed about you and, where the legal requirements are met, request correction or deletion. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. Requests are taken at info@birdmate.ch.

The EU GDPR does not apply automatically merely because a person is in the EU or opens the website from there. Where it applies to a specific processing activity, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, may apply as well.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the processing activities or the legal requirements change. Last updated: 22 October 2026.
